Anne Forrestier, a companion of police officer Verhoeven, is the only witness to a jewellery store robbery in the Champs Elysees, having miraculously escaped the robber's brutality. Shocked by the attack, Captain Verhoeven throws himself wholeheartedly into this investigation, which becomes a personal affair as the robber, a notorious criminal of rare brutality, seeks Anne out to eliminate her... The two men become embroiled in a frantic chase whose stakes are Ann. Veroeven, who feels his personal life threatened, also becomes violent and relentless, to the point of renouncing all his principles... The roles between them begin to intertwine masterfully who is ultimately the hunter and who is the prey?
